The Polish urban environment has been influenced by historical models ranging from the 19th century manor houses to Communist-era block houses, as well as by the newfound experiences of freedom and ability to express oneself. The results of these influences can be seen in pseudo-manor houses, assorted castle-like structures, McMansions and even highlander huts on the flattest of plains. These are the controversial examples of an eclecticism marked by the ambitions and dreams of an increasingly wealthy society. “Na przykład” was an exhibition aiming to start a conversation about how architecture can respond to needs and be functional and intelligent. It presented houses, which can become signposts for future builders. We designed the book and the visual identification of the exhibition.
