Nowy Teatr

A rhythmic design for a theater in motion
Nowy Teatr
When we first started to work on the identification for Nowy Teatr, it was a nomadic institution without a permanent location. The venue at Madalińskiego Street was still being prepared, and the team performed on various stages in Warsaw and abroad, engaged in varied guerilla-like activities.

The visual identification we suggested conveys the spirit of Nowy Teatr, an institution present wherever it wants and engaged in initiatives reaching far outside the spectrum of classic theatrical activities.
The separated line that constitutes the central point of the identification reflects the rhythm of the theatre’s way of life – one that is dynamic, bustling, and volatile. It assumes different shapes, since it always tells a new story, combines different points in space, and draws the borders of the stage in order to outline them somewhere else in no time.
The logotype line is present wherever people experience theater as a space and an institution. It adorns the covers of theatre programs and becomes the fabric for the information system within its interiors.
The gratings we designed are also carriers of visual identification – their mobility allows to reconfigure the theatre space. Depending on needs and specificities of particular events, they can serve as background for pictographic placards.
