Cement Typeface

2010-2014

The Cement typeface grew out of the wordmarks of two urban magazines of our design. The aesthetic of “WAW,” based in Warsaw, and “KTW,” based in Katowice, captured the feel of cities dominated by prefabricated concrete housing blocks, but with hints of brutalism and pre-war modernism. Like Polish urban fabric, the Cement typeface is discontinuous and favors the unexpected over repetition.
